Marion soccer downs Centralia

CENTRALIA -- The Marion High School boys soccer team defeated Centralia on the road Tuesday by a 3-1 score and now has won two straight since snapping a losing skid.

Marion bumped its record to 4-6-2 overall and 1-1 in the South Seven with the victory.

Hamzah Baker, Junah McPhail and Tyson Stoecklin all scored goals for the Wildcats, who led 2-1 at the half. Stoecklin was marked for two assists and Baker collected one.

Marion played rival Carbondale on Thursday after the newspaper's print deadline. Look for coverage of that match on and in Tuesday's print edition.
