SIU to host 2020 MVC Baseball Championship

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois University will host the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship, league Commissioner Doug Elgin announced Thursday. Itchy Jones Stadium will host the five-day tournament from May 19-23, 2020.

Site awards were approved by the league's Joint Committee (faculty athletics representatives, directors of athletics and senior woman administrators of each institution) and are subject to ratification at the MVC Presidents' Council meeting on June 13.

SIU will host the MVC Baseball Championship for the first time since 1986. Saluki Baseball also hosted the tournament in 1984. SIU completed a $4.2 million renovation of its baseball facility in 2014 and dedicated the stadium to Hall of Fame coach Itchy Jones, who won 738 games as head coach at SIU and guided the Salukis to three College World Series appearances.
