Practical experience pays off Maison de Mings owner credits SIC for successful start
Many people are proud to call Southeastern Illinois College the launchpad for their careers. Amy Mings is such a person. Mings, a successful businessperson and Galatia native, began her education at SIC in 2002 as part of the summer honors program. From 2004 to 2006 she attended as a full-time student before transferring and beginning her career in the business world.

Michael Hillegas DAR honors senior from Eldorado High School
HARRISBURG -- Eldorado High School Class of 2018 graduate Emilie Farmer of Eldorado received the DAR Good Citizenship Award from the Michael Hillegas DAR chapter at the organization's May meeting. The DAR Good Citizenship Award was presented by member Kathy Morris during the meeting to Emilie Farmer of Eldorado at the May 19, 2018 meeting at First Baptist Church in Harrisburg.

Mock disaster competition prepares rescue teams for emergencies
The scene was a disaster, with smoke-filled buildings, injured miners and a towering gas flame, the heat of which could be felt more than 100 feet away. Fortunately, the "disaster" was a series of mock emergencies created to test 12 area mine rescue teams.

The Saline County 4-H Management Committee will hold a business meeting at 8 p.m. Monday, June 18, at the Extension office. All committee members and other interested adults and youth are encouraged to attend. Committee members include one adult representative from each 4-H Club and the current Saline County 4-H Federation officers. We will be discussing and finalizing plans for our 2018 Saline County 4-H shows.
