JR. HIGH ROUNDUP: Warriors Perfect in Jr. SWEC

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin (Middle School) completed a perfect Junior Southwestern Egyptian Conference (Jr. SWEC) campaign Tuesday night, rolling past Chester (Junior High School) 52-22 in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Warriors, 16-3, ran the tables with a 12-0 Jr. SWEC mark. Thursday at 6 p.m., they play Johnston City as the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association (SIJHSAA) Region V Class L Regional begins at Herrin. West Frankfort and Herrin are also entered with the finals set for Saturday afternoon.

"I am really very proud," DMS coach Ryan Heape said. "I'm honored to coach a bunch of kids with such character, discipline and maturity. Their efforts on the court are only a glimpse of what their impacts on society will be."

Against Chester, the Warriors shook off a sluggish first half and stretched an 11-point halftime lead to go ahead by 29 points (42-13) as the final period began.

Brenden Fred was the top scorer with a dozen points. Deeja Cole added nine points and Austin Mansker seven.

All 15 eighth graders on Heape's roster enjoyed extensive playing time.

Prior to the tip-off, eighth grade players, cheerleaders and band members were recognized.

The Warrior roster includes: Brenden Fred, John Erwin, Jacob O'Rourke, Timmy Cochran, Thomas Hamlin, Austin Mansker, Deeja Cole, Nate Boss, Travis Chapman, Shayne Baxter, Daulton Beltz, Jonah Spencer, Haeden Sweetin, Garrett Dorsey and Dalton Donoghue.

T/SB IN FINALS

Tamaroa/St. Bruno reached the championship game of the SIJHSAA Region VI Regional tournament in Class S, edging past Woodlawn 41-38 Monday night.

The finals are set for Thursday at 7 p.m. T/SB is now 21-5.

A hard-fought game throughout, T/SB used an 18-10 third quarter edge to open a three-point lead.

Dylan Hardin scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had three assists with Dalton Hubler adding 19 rebounds and nine points. Zach Phillips scored 13 points. Hubler added three steals.

In Region VII play, Pinckneyville (#204) ended with a 25-3 record Monday following a 68-57 upset loss to Chester St. John's.
