Annual Chamber Dinner to take place next month

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Steeleville Chamber of Commerce met for its regular scheduled meeting on Monday, Feb. 16.

The Chamber is preparing for the Annual Chamber Dinner which will be held on March 16. The theme is 'Luck of the Irish' and the Chamber encourages everyone to wear green. Mitch Williams will be presenting a unique magic/inspirational show.

The 2008 Citizen of the Year award will be presented during the banquet as well. The dinner will take the place of the regularly scheduled Chamber meeting, thus there will not be a meeting in March. Tickets are $30.00 per couple and $20.00 for individual. Tickets can be picked up at Village Hall.

The Randolph County Pig Party is set for May 15 and 16 in Steeleville. This is the third year that the party is taking place. Last year, at this time, there were zero verbal commitments for cooking teams wishing to compete in the BBQ contest. This year there are 14, 11 of which are brand new teams to the competition. They need a total of 40 teams. In case of overflow, Sparta St. will be used to house more teams. In addition, there will be two live bands. They are said to be "something for people over 45 and something for people under 45."

On April 15, Rick Adderbury from the University of Illinois Extension office will be speaking about disaster preparedness. This will be held at the Steeleville Legion hall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. He will be presenting topics on how to prepare personal and community disaster plans.

The cost will be $20 per person, which was dropped from $45 because of the amount of time it took for U of I- E to get back to Steeleville. The Chamber will be donate $100 to aid in refreshments.

Two new members joined the Steeleville Chamber of Commerce: Frank Johnson and David Sanders. Frank Johnson owns Amore Limos, Inc, operated out of Steeleville. David Sanders owns Heartland Enterprises, which operates the Heartland Manor Mobile Home community in Steeleville.

The Regional Leaders Breakfast is set for Thursday, April 30. Dr. Dale Henry from Tennessee will be speaking. The focus will be on education. SWIC will be presenting two scholarships during the breakfast. The cost is $15 per person.
