Heritage Days May Move Downtown

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Main Street program is entertaining the idea of moving the annual spring Heritage Days festival--including the carnival and all of the events and vendors--to downtown Du Quoin on Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2.

East Main Street between Washington Street and Walnut Street would be closed between Friday afternoon and Saturday evening. Parking around the Sacred Heart Church will remain open.

The popular Egyptian Carnival would be set up on East Main Street just east of the Canadian National Railroad tracks. Vendors, events and contests would be held up and down Main Street. Most side streets would be open, but Mulberry Street between East Main and East Park would be used for vendors.

The Main Street program is interested in your thoughts and you are asked to contact the chamber and Main Street offices at 542-9570.
