Jr. High Volleyball: Lady Warriors Repeat Tourney Champs
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Du Quoin (Middle School) swept three games Saturday to win its own Lady Warriors Volleyball Invitational championship.
DMS, 15-3-1, won both of its matches in pool play and then romped past Trico (Junior High School) to claim the title.
Scores in the final match were 21-10 and 21-10.
Tuesday, DMS hosts Benton.
"I was happy for the girls and it was nice to see them win this tournament," Du Quoin coach Isaac Miller said. "Our girls are learning to play well in pressure situations and that will hopefully be a big help come regional time."
The Lady Warriors survived a scare in the opening match, slipping past Pinckneyville (#204) in three tough games by scores of 17-21, 21-14 and 15-14.
In the second of two pool play battles, Du Quoin posted 21-17 and 21-11 wins over Jr. Southwestern Egyptian Conference (Jr. SWEC) rival Nashville.
"I give a lot of credit to #204," Miller said. "They gave us all we could handle in the first match and it could have easily went their way. This is, once again, a just a great group of kids we have. I am very proud of them."
