</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA["We've Seen Worse"--Work has been non-stop on repairs and renovations to Du Quoin's 30-year-old municipal swimming pool, which anchors the Robert Armstrong Complex on West Park Street in Du Quoin. Wilson Pools Plus of O'Fallon, Ill. received a contract valued at up to $80,000 to identify leaks in the pool itself and plumbing around the pool that was costing the city upwards of 10,000 gallons of water a day. As jackhammers continued to tear through concrete patios around the pool, workers for Wilson's gave a thumbs up that they were finding the problems and are able to make the repairs. "We've seen worse," commented one employee. the work includes replacing underground plumbing and installing new stainless steel uprights on the deep end of the pool. This week workmen were trying to trace a corroded 1 1/2 inch water line that may have contributed to the problem. The pool repairs should be completed by next week. The concrete patios will be poured and finished after that so the pool can open on time during Memorial Day weekend.
