Boys Prep Baseball: First Win for Fighting Falcons
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Elverado High School's Baseball team finished the first weekend of its season with a 1-4 record, following Saturday's doubleheader split.
The Fighting Falcons will host Egyptian at 4:30 Monday.
Saturday, EHS lost 14-1 against Zeigler-Royalton/Christopher despite the two hits of Bryce Mathis.
Elverado then bounced back to handle Century, 10-4 as Kyle Kempfer and Dalton Porter combined for the pitching win.
Herby Sandlin knocked in three runs for EHS with Mathis adding two more hits and two RBI.
Friday, the Falcons lost 9-2 to Sciota-West Prairie.
Elverado was held hitless by two S-WP hurlers. Troy Stewart and Porter allowed just six hits.
Last week, the Falcons lost to Crab Orchard and Webber Township.
