PINCKNEYVILLE SOFTBALL: Lady Panthers Rally, Keep Slate Perfect
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Scoring five times in the last of the sixth inning, Pinckneyville Community High School's Softball team rallied to keep its record intact Monday afternoon.
Dani Jenkel singled home the go-ahead run and sophomore hurler Emily Chapman tossed four solid innings of relief as her record hiked to 4-0.
PCHS, 5-0, is idle until Thursday's game at Steeleville.
"We will need to take a better approach offensively than we have done so far," Lady Panthers coach Greg Hale said.
"We have done just enough to get the job done. When we start to put our offense together, we can be a dangerous team."
In the sixth inning-and with Trico clinging to its 2-1 lead-Nicole Cheek laced a one-out single and and eventually scored when Mandi Kellerman reached by fielders choice.
With the score knotted at 2-2, Jenkel's hit scored Kellerman and courtesy runner Rebecca Burris. RBI hits from Elizabeth Wittmer and Kortney Crawford completed the scoring.
Chapman allowed one hit and struck out five after relieving starter Sarah Malanowski.
Emily Miller added a hit for the Lady Panthers. Each squad managed just five safeties.
Jenkel knocked in the first PCHS run with a sacrifice fly.
