ELVERADO SPORTS: Baseball, Softball Post Home Victories

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Three Elverado High School pitchers combined on a no-hitter Wednesday afternoon as the Lady Falcons blitzed Dongola 17-0 in five innings.

Now 3-2, Elverado plays at Galatia-Thompsonville Friday.

"We had a chance to work on a few things," EHS coach Donette Wheatley said. "All the pitchers got to work and we hit the ball hard."

Kelsey Tuthill, Jenna Cochran and Kelsi Teague whiffed 10 Dongola batters and issued just one walk.

After a lead off walk against Tuthill (1-0), 14 consecutive Lady Demon hitters were retired as the Lady Falcons played error-free defense.

Elverado scored a dozen runs in the first inning and had hits from nine different players.

J. Cochran was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and extra-basehits.

Tuthill, Courtney Morse and Rachel Hunziker each had two hits.

BASEBALL

In eight innings, Elverado High School's Baseball team notched its third win of the season Wednesday.

The Falcons, 3-6, topped rival Johnston City 11-10 and are idle for the rest of the week.

Freshman Dalton Porter took the pitching win, for his first career victory. Porter worked the final two innings of relief.

At the plate, another frosh, Bryce Mathis, led the Falcons,

Mathis was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

J'City enjoyed an early 6-0 lead before Elverado bounced back to lead 7-6.
