Curtis J. Stube and Michael E. Davison are vying for the mayor's seat. Long-time Mayor Bill Place chose not to seek re-election and retires from the position.
Stube, 39, is a local business owner. He served as the President of Tamaroa First. Stube's plans for the village include following through on the water project begun by the current council and using technology to promote the village as a place to shop and visit. Davison works at Nascote
The village is working to absorb the 204 Water District and connect directly onto the Rend Lake Water System instead of purchasing water from the City of Du Quoin. In addition to the 204 District customers, several others will be connected to the village's expanded utility services.
Cheryl Pelker, who was appointed to fill the remainder of the unexpired term is running unopposed for a full term.
Kirk Pestka and Betty Roberts are running for Village Trustee seats. There are three vacancies on the Board, but only two running.
Voters will also vote for a second time on the non-home rule tax issue. Outgoing Village President Bill Place said that the funds generated by the non-home rule tax would help to support a local Police Department.
