Du Quoin KoC Makes $1,500 Donation

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Du Quoin Knights of Columbus Council #1298 awarded more than $1,500 to three local organizations that assist people with mental and learning disabilities. Pictured left to right are: Chairman of the KC Tootsie Roll Committee Tom Murry, Director of Catholic Social Services of Southern Illinois Mary Lou Loos, Superintendent of Dist. 300 Dr. Gary Kelly, Area Director of Special Olympics in southern Illinois Jo Dodd and Deputy Grand Knight Pete Riggio. Dist. 300 will used the funds for their Special Education program. Each organization received $504, raised via the annual 'Tootsie Roll Drive.' Knights of Columbus councils have held fund-raising events for more than 30 years to benefit this cause. Each council chooses local organizations as recipients. The checks were distributed during the annual Lenten Fish Fry at Sacred Heart Parish Center.
