WEEKEND UPDATE: Hosts defeat Lady Panthers at Slugfest
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Host Marshall County posted a 4-1 victory over Pinckneyville (8-2) late Friday afternoon in the opening round of pool play in the Marshall County, Ky. Slugfest.
The Lady Panthers (0-1) continued pool play Saturday with morning games against Gibson County, Ky. and Madisonville, Ky. Pinckneyville was then slated to start single-elimination tourney play at 2:30 p.m.
Against Marshall County, the Lady Panthers scored on a solo home run by Mandi Kellerman.
Emily Chapman (7-1) suffered her first pitching loss surrendering just four hits in a game called in the fifth inning after the 70-minute tourney time limit expired.
