Du Quoin Public Aid Office to Close July 16

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The Illinois Department of Human Resources will close its Perry County office July 16, according to spokesman Tom Green.

The six employees of the Du Quoin office will be merged into the staff of the Franklin County Human Resources office in Benton, according to Green.

Green said that so many of the department's services are now available online and by phone and that it no longer makes fiscal sense to maintain an office in every county.

He said he hopes the department can arrange for a public aid facilitator to hold office hours one day a week somewhere in Du Quoin. That location and scheduled have not been established.
