The talented senior left hander struck out 16 batters as Du Quoin rolled to an 8-0 River-to-River Conference, improving its record to 8-4.

In Mississippi Division play, the Indians are 2-1. Saturday at 11 a.m., Du Quoin visits Harrisburg for a doubleheader.

Chester's records dipped to 1-7 and 0-2.

"Josh was outstanding today. He worked ahead of hitters and did not waste any time going after them," Du Quoin coach Tim Craft said. "He had the aggressive approach on the mound that we want all of our pitchers to have. Trent Bigham also made a big catch in right field to keep Josh's no hitter intact. "

Cushman (3-1) retired the first 10 Yellowjackets hitters before issuing a one-out walk to David Winters in the fourth.

Winters-also the losing pitcher for Chester-was stranded at second base after Bigham's diving catch and a strikeout.

Cushman then set down the last 11 batters to end things.

RBI singles from Colin Jones and Nick Baskin staked Du Quoin to a second inning lead and the Tribe added four more tallies in the fourth.

Brandon George tripled off the wall in deep leftcenter field, sending home a run. Cale Bastien and Ethan Beasley added run-scoring hits.

10 different Indians recorded hits with J.C. Davis, Beasley, George and Hopkins all contributing two safeties.

Davis and Beasley each knocked in two runs. Cushman, Seth Flint, Tyler Shelton and Baskin joined the hit parade.
