The Lady Falcons, 11-5, were scheduled to host Carmi-White County at 4:30 Tuesday.
"It was a good game for Kelsi Teague and Kelsey Tuthill to get some pitching work," Elverado coach Donette Wheatley said. "Both allowed only one hit and we played good defense behind them."
Originally scheduled as a doubleheader, the meeting was reduced to just a single game as Crab Orchard had only one pitcher available.
Kelsi Teague (3-0) tossed the first five innings with seven strikeouts to gain the pitching win, working around seven walks.
Kelsey Tuthill finished up with four K's in the final two frames to earn a save.
After spotting Crab Orchard a 1-0 lead, EHS went ahead for good on the consecutive hits from J. Cochran and C. Cochran.
Elverado was on top 3-1 in the sixth when Tuthill drew a walk. Courtney Morse's double sent Tuthill home with the fourth Elverado run and Morse scored when Katie Watts' infield grounder was booted.
Seven different players managed safeties for Elverado, which took a giant leap towards securing the top-seed in its own Class 1A Regional next month. Crab Orchard, Carrier Mills, Galatia-Thompsonville and Norris City (NCOE) are also entered.
