MEN'S FASTPITCH SOFTBALL: KC/Lee's Opens with Twinbill Sweep
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Pinckneyville KC/Lee's Sports Falcons opened the 2009 fastpitch softball season with a pair of lopsided victories Saturday night.
In the first game, John Kiselewski tossed a two-hitter as KC/Lee's blanked defending Illinois ASA Class A State hampion Pete's Blues of Swansea 9-0. Bouncing back from an early 8-2 deficit, KC/Lee's won game #2 15-9 over Belleville Stallions. The Stallions were Illinois ASA Class B and NAFA A-Major World Series champion in 2008.
Kiselewski struck out two batters and eight different teammates contributed basehits.
Ricky Kasban went 2-for-2 with Clay McDonnough and Haven Hicks contributing two RBI each. Mason Woodside belted a solo home run.
Ryan Colle, Eric Saunders, Derek Beninati and Travis Klingler also hit safely.
11 Falcons recorded at least one hit in the win over Belleville Stallions. Winter, Beninati, McDonnough, Jay McCrary and Hicks enjoyed two-hit games with McCrary, Woodside and Chris Gebhart adding home runs.
Mark Radake (1-0) was the winning pitcher with Winter working the final three innings to earn a save.
Wednesday, KC/Lee's Sports starts play in the Southern Illinois Fastpitch League (SIFL) against Kuhnert Builders (Elkville) in a 7:15 doubleheader.
Friday and Saturday, KC/Lee's plays host to its own round-robin at the Perry County Fairgrounds.
In other local action Saturday, Elkville Fastpitch was rained out of a doubleheader in Kelso, Mo.
