IHSA STATE TRACK: Du Quoin Thinclad Returns Home Third
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ In one of the closest races of a thrilling final day, Du Quoin High School senior Trevor Hoffman ended up third in the 300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A State Track and Field finals Saturday.
Hoffman (38.76) was just .08 off the winning time by errick Higgins of Cuba (38.68) and even with Stark County's Tanner Ewing (38.74).
Hoffman scored seven points, securing 38th place for the Indians. He was the lone Perry County finalist.
"Trevor had just a great season," Du Quoin coach Al Martin said. "And he ran a great race in the finals. All three runners were right there at the finish."
Elmhurst's York High School won the boys Class 3A track and field championship on Saturday, earning its fourth state track title and first since 2000.
York outscored Neuqua Valley of Naperville 56-36 to win the title, getting the bulk of its points in distance events.
