Du Quoin Duo Shares SIU MVP Honors

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Southern Illinois University head coach Dan Callahan announced Monday that Tyler Bullock , Bryant George, Adam Curynski and Chris Murphy have earned postseason honors.

Bullock and George shared the team's Most Valuable Player award, while Curynski won the Abe Martin Leadership Award and Murphy garnered the James Mundo Spirit Award.

"We picked two worthy players for our MVP award this year. It's even more exciting that both will return next season," said Callahan.

Bullock (DH) and George (RHP), who hail from Du Quoin, were named first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference this year.

Bullock tore through league play, hitting .386 with 14 runs scored, five doubles, eight home runs and 23 RBI in 19 league starts.

He also hit a team-high 10 home runs, becoming the first Saluki to get double-digit homers in a season since 2003.

George, who became SIU's all-time career leader in saves on April 14 (at Southeast Missouri State), compiled a 3-0 record with three saves and a 0.87 ERA in eight MVC appearances.

He ranks third in the conference with seven saves and is a perfect 7-for-7 in save opportunites this year.

A native of Webster, N.Y., Curynski (RHP) struck out 39 in 81.2 innings over a team-high 14 starts.

Murphy (OF), who is from Sewickley, Pa., hit .273 with 34 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 28 RBI in 50 starts.
