Wyatt Eisenhauer Family Hopes to Extend Memorial Funds July 11

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ The family of PFC Wyatt D. Eisenhauer has planned the first fund-raiser for the Wyatt D. Eisenhauer Memorial Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, for July 11.

The fund-raiser kicks off with a poker run. Registration is from 8 to 10 a.m.at the Pinckneyville Fairgrounds. Participants in the run will visit veteran's memorials in southern Illinois. Vehicles leave at 10:30 a.m.

Following the poker run, a dinner, dance and auction will be held at the KC Hall in Pinckneyville. Dinner is from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The auction is from 4:30 to 7:45 p.m. and the dance is from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.

Cost for the ride, dinner and dance is $25 per couple, $15 per individual, $7.50 for children 4 to 12 years. Children three years and under are free. Cost for the dance only is $5.

The Wyatt D. Eisenhauer Memorial Fund has awarded five scholarships in recent years. The scholarship funds can be used to pay tuition at any Junior College, University or Trade School. Applications are accepted in the spring. Eisenhauer's sisters select the scholarship recipients.

Eisenhauer's family is hoping to expand the efforts of the memorial fund to purchase instruments for children who would like to participate in the Pinckneyville Junior High Band. Wyatt Eisenhauer loved music and played several instruments. He also recorded some of his music.

Eisenhauer was a graduate of Pinckneyville Community High School and attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2004. He was killed in May 2005 when an IED exploded and hit the vehicle he was driving.
