The shoot has previously been run by Jon Knop and his family for the last 14 years. He handed over the event to the Steeleville Jaycees after they assisted with last year's shoot. There were 179 shooters that went out in 2 flights and then returned to enjoy lunch and several gun raffle opportunities. A bronze buck statue was donated by Tim Eichenseer in honor of Jonathan Knop and it was also raffled off. At the end of the day, winners were announced and attendance prizes handed out. There were several award categories with multiple places in each. The award categories were Senior Class, Women's Class, Open Class and High School Traveling Trophy. The shoot raised a total of $4225 for Southern IL Hospice. Hospice representative and liaison for the event, Ellen Relleman, was on hand helping with the event as well as some other Hospice volunteers. The Jaycees took in approximately $2000 which will be used to start a scholarship program hopefully to be put in place for the upcoming school year. The shoot was a big success and the Jaycees would like to thank Jon Knop, his family and friends, and all other volunteers for all their help.
