Jackson County
Sheriff's Report
On 07-30-09 Jeremy A. Simpkins, 21, of Carbondale, IL, was arrested for Domestic Battery, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer. Jackson County Deputies responded to a domestic incident at the Bush Mobile Home Park. While on the scene the deputies observed Simpkins strike his 31-year-old girlfriend in the head with a closed fist. Simpkins then resisted the deputies efforts to arrest him and struck a deputy in the chest with an elbow. He was subdued after pepper spray was deployed and transported to the Jackson County Jail. Simpkins is currently held awaiting bond to be set. Neither the victim nor the deputy required medical attention.
On Friday, July 31, 2009, at 3:25 p.m. Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Paramedics from the Jackson County Ambulance Service, as well as members of the Campbell Hill Fire and Rescue Service responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a dump truck and a mid-sized pickup truck at Illinos Route #44 and Rock Crusher Road in Campbell Hill. One person was carried from the scene by ambulance. The investigation is ongoing.

On 7-26-09 Steven K. Howell, 18, of Ava, IL, was arrested for Reckless Driving and Leaving Scene of an Accident (Vehicle Damage). He was released by posting a valid Illinois Driver's License.
On 7-29-09 Bobbie J. Bianco, 31, of Tilden, IL, was arrested for Speeding more than 20 MPH over the posted limit on State Rt. 13. He was released by posting a valid Illinois Driver's License.
Accidents
On 7-26-09 Michael A. Beltz, 37, of DuQuoin, IL, was involved in an accident. He was traveling northbound on Boxelder Road and struck a tree that had fallen in the roadway.
On 7-29-09 Devin T. Hiller, 21, of Cahokia, IL, was involved in an accident. He was traveling on State Rt. 13 and swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. Hiller lost control, ran off the road, and struck an embankment.
