</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Pinckneyville Ambulance Service director Shane Malaway is pictured with the newest ambulance added to the fleet of eight emergency response vehicles. The used 2005 McCoy diesel ambulance was purchased at a cost of a little over $14,000 from a Sullivan, Ill. ambulance service. It's call sign will be "5-Mary-17." It will be the fifth Advanced Life Support (ALS) unit in the fleet, equipped with cardiac monitor, advanced airway items and a power inverter to run 120 volt IV pumps. The service now has a staff of nearly 40 covering all of Perry County, and responded to 3,028 emergency and transfer call-outs in 2008. The service was also recently awarded the contract for the 2009 Du Quoin Fair.
