</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The District 50 Board of Education approved the budget for the 2009-2010 school year that was posted at the previous meeting. The budget projects revenues of $4,922,272 and expenditures of $5,522,554, producing a deficit of $600,282. The deficit will be covered by reserves.
Dist. 50 will begin the school year with $4,680,419. The projected balance at the end of the school year will be $4,080,137.
The budget projects losses in the education ($120,000), building ($48,000), IMRF ($45,000) and health/life/safety ($508,000) funds. The district sold $850,000 in health/life/safety bonds last year to cover the work being done this summer. The deficit stems from the timing. The funds are still available to pay for the work.
Superintendent Tim O'Leary said the work is nearly complete. Some cleaning and other minor adjustments are all that remain to be done. He expects to work with the architects on the punch-down list very soon.
