Du Quoin Frosh Fall to Harrisburg, E-T Wins

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Breaking open a tie game with a pair of third quarter touchdowns, Harrisburg High School's freshman football team pulled away to post a 34-14 victory over Du Quoin Thursday night at Van Metre Field.

The young Indians, 1-1, visit 2-0 Herrin next week. Harrisburg's record is also 2-0.

Du Quoin tied the score at 8-8 with 1:23 left in the opening period.

Brenden Fred tossed a 32-yard touchdown pass to Austin Mansker.

Trayvon Jones then ran for the two-point conversion.

In the third quarter, a 52-yard punt return by Deeja Cole again knotted things at 14-14. Jones, however, was stopped just short on the PAT try.

Harrisburg then scored twice in the last eight minutes of the third quarter before adding its last TD midway through the final period.

Jones recovered a pair of fumbles for the young Tribe.

Also in Thursday night frosh football, Elverado-Trico (1-1) defeated Eldorado 28-20. They lost 22-14 to Fairfield in week #1.

Pinckneyville's frosh (2-0) defeated West Frankfort Thursday 22-16 after whipping Red Bud, 42-7, in the first week.
