Du Quoin Jayvees Fall to Harrisburg
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Following a strong opening half, Du Quoin High School's Junior Varsity Football team surrendered three touchdowns in the last two quarters of 27-13 loss to Harrisburg Tuesday night on Van Metre Field.
The young Indians are 0-2 entering next Monday's game at Herrin.
Harrisburg's record is 1-1.
Du Quoin jumped on top with 10:28 left in the second period as Cayle Diggins broke free for a 26-yard scoring jaunt. The extra point try by Diggins was blocked.
With just over one minute left before halftime, the Tribe scored its final TD on Sam Gossett's 20-yard pass to Jonathon Boss. This time, Diggins' kick was good and Du Quoin led 13-6 at the break.
Harrisburg would go ahead with two TD's in the third quarter and tacked on another midway through the fourth period.
Diggins led Du Quoin with 73 yards rushing on 10 carries. Quivon Bledsoe added 59 yards and Gossett 27.
Through the air, Gossett and Boss hooked up three times for a total of 57 yards.
Defensively, Du Quoin had an interception from John Galik.
Adam Harsy (nine), Dylan Pyron (eight) and Quinton Mathis (six) were the tackle leaders. Logan Spain added five tackles, two for losses.
