PCHS Shooting Sports Team Keeps Busy

The Weekend of September 19 and 20 found the Pinckneyville High School Shooting Sports Varsity Team busy at Sparta World Shooting and Recreation Complex..
Seven members competed in Scholastics Clay Target Sports Event at the MIDWEST SKEET Tournament Saturday and Sunday. They finished with First Place and Second Place honors.
Team members included Levi Craig, Zach McCrary, Devon Schubert, Jessica Farthing, Michael Jones, Dylan Pritchett, and Nolan Carney.
Levi Craig broke a 25 straight , his first 25 straight and the Teams first straight ever.
Gamaliel Cup Sporting Clays Tournament.
Three Members competited in the Gamemeli Cup Scholastic Clay Target Event. They were: Levi Craig, Jessica Farthing and Nolan Carney.
Each shooter shot 100 Sporting targets Saturday and Sunday. The Gamaliel Cup is a annual Tournament held at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex. This was the best-attended Cup at the Complex. Attendees came from California and Florida, Ohio.
PCHS Shooter Levi Craig won High Over-All in the SCTP Event.
September 12 SCTP Monthly Competition
PCHS Varsity Shooting Team competited against 11 Southern Illinois SCTP Teams.
Sparta, Chester, Steelville, Marissa, Red Bud, Waterloo, Christopher, Trico, New Athens, Litchfield, Alton, Mulberry Grove, Carmi, Mc Leansboro, and Pinckneyville all compete once a month. This is in addition to other competitions through out the month.
Each five member Team will shoot 4 rounds of American Trap or 100 targets.
Teams are divided by their grade level from 6th grade thru High School. The Pinckneyville Varsity Team of; Nolan Carney, Jessica Farthing, Levi Craig, Zach Mc Crary, and Dylan Pritchett. shot a Team Score of 458/500 for a Third Place. Missing second place by 2 targets.
Nolan shot his first 75 straight and a high of 98/100, Levi shot his second 50 straight and Zack shot his first 25 straight.
Up coming competitions include the WSRC Fall Classic at Sparta and the SCTP Monthly Trap Shoot on October 3.
The PCHS Shooting Team will be asking for your help this month by selling 50/50 Drawing tickets.
They will also have a booth at the Mardi Gras Flea Market and selling tickets. The Drawing will be on October 31st.
