Lady Indian Frosh Volleyball Solid in Tourney

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[ Winning three of four matches, Du Quoin High School's Freshman Volleyball team earned the third place trophy Saturday at the Pinckneyville Freshman Tournament.

Victories came over Marion (21-18, 21-13), Marissa-Coulterville (21-10, 21-14) and Red Bud (21-12, 21-7). The lone loss came against Class 3A Waterloo, 16-21 and 15-21.

"It was a great team effort," said DHS frosh coach Paul Miller said. "The young ladies served at a 91% rate as a team."

Statistics from the tournament are listed below.

Shantanna Fann: 24-24 serves, 10 points, 2 aces.

Cassidy Rice: 42-43 serves, 30 points, 13 aces.

Brittany Heatherly: 5-7 serves, 5 points.

Megan Lively: 21-26 serves, 16 points, 6 aces.

Rebekah Maddox: 21-24 serves, 14 points, 2 aces.

Jesse Martin: 18-19 serves, 10 points, 1 ace.

Molly Clark: 9-10 serves, 6 points, 2 aces.

Nicole Jackson: 1-2 serves.

Miller also pointed out that Katie Parks did not serve, but had several crucial blocks and touches.
