Double Homicide/Suicide in Coulterville
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Shortly before midnight on Saturday, Oct. 3 the Randolph County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic incident involving a man with a gun in rural Coulterville.
Randolph County Sheriff Fred Frederking stated that a Randolph County Sheriff's Deputy and Coulterville Police responded to the scene on Poplar St. and discovered three deceased individuals lying in the driveway of the Brian Morrison residence.
An investigation conducted by Randolph County Sheriff's Office, Randolph County Coroner's Office, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services revealed Stanley A. Garbs, 52, and Tamara R. Carroll, 46, both of Marissa, were shot and killed by Brian R. Morrison, 35, of rural Coulterville. Morrison then shot himself, taking his own life before police arrived.
All three were shot with a 12 gauge shotgun. Garbs and Carroll were Mr. Morrison's mother and father-in-law.
Mrs. Morrison contacted her parents Stanley Garbs and Tamara Carroll to come and get her and her children due to a domestic altercation. After the parents arrived, the situation escalated and Mrs. Morrison called 911 after her parents had been shot.
Captain Janice Barbour stated that Garbs and Carroll were in the process of leaving the residence when they were shot in the driveway.
Barbour also confirmed that there was no record of any domestic disturbance calls to the house previously.
According to Sheriff Frederking, police discovered another weapon at the scene.
The investigation continues awaiting the results of the autopsies and toxicology report from Randolph County Coroner Randy Dudenbostel. Dudenbostel also stated the investigating agencies are awaiting results from the Illinois State Police Crime Services.
Services for Garbs and Carroll will be held at the Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa on Thursday,?Oct. 8 at 10:00 a.m.
Services for Morrison will be held at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Coulterville on?Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m.
