DMS Warriors Tip-Off Classic: Salem Sweeps the Field

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Salem (Franklin Park Middle School) ripped off 16 of the final 18 points in the first half to break open a close game, defeating Du Quoin (Middle School) 53-34 in the final and deciding contest of the 10th Annual DMS Warriors Tip-Off Classic Friday night.

The Warriors finished the tourney with a 2-1 record. Salem swept the week with a 3-0 record. Benton defeated Trico (48-42) for third place/

"The kids played really hard but give Salem all the credit. They are a really good team," DMS coach Ryan Heape said. "We have a lot of work ahead but I think we could be one of the better teams around by the end of the season."

DMS (3-1) was led by Spencer Cook's 13 points and eight rebounds.

Camden Mercier had three assists.

DMS did win the seventh grade portion of the tournament, ending the week with two wins.
