The Blessing of Books; Du Quoin Missionary & Harris Family Foundation Establish Library

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[It is often said that a picture paints a thousand words, however, one must also remember the importance of words themselves and how they develop our minds, expose us to different cultures and bring us the Word of God. Recently, the Harris Family Christian Foundation followed up on a story in the Du Quoin Evening Call about a local young lady, Bailey Shook, serving with the Peace Corps in Africa. Bailey was in the process of putting together a library for the young street children in Uganda and needed our help.

The HFCF purchased a few hundred Christian reading materials, and then partnered with the DuQuoin Middle School Builder's Club who staged a book drive. The DMS Builder's Club is sponsored by Mrs. Debbie Denton (who was a former teacher of Bailey Shook) and they collected over 400 books. The HFCF gathered the books, boxed them and paid for all shipping to Uganda in care of Bailey. The pictures below show the books which traveled "from our kids to theirs" --- a blessing that we in this community can all be thankful for.
