Tuesday Night in the BDC: Fast Christopher Start Keys Runaway Win
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Elverado High School's Boys Basketball team couldn't recover from a flying start by the Christopher Bearcats Tuesday night as Black Diamond Conference play began.
The Fighting Falcons, 0-6, fell behind 12-0 in the first four -plus minutes of play and never recovered. The end result was a 66-25 loss to the host team, whch had a game-high scoring effort of 21 points from Devin Austill. Stephen Dial added 10 points as all 12 Christopher players who dressed scored at least two points.
Kyle Kempfer had the first field goal for Elverado with 3:29 left in the opening quarter.
The shot sliced the lead to 12-2 but Christopher (3-1, 1-0) finished the period on a 12-point run to go ahead 20-4. By halftime, the margin was 37-8 as Elverado managed to hit only three shots from the floor.
Kempfer ended with 16 points to pace Elverado. Landry Arnett added six.
Friday night, EHS hosts Zeigler-Royalton in its home opener.
Christopher also won Tuesday's junior varsity game, 48-30.
