SIRR Rivals Night: Du Quoin Boys Sweep Panthers in Frosh-Soph Action
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin High School's Freshman and Sophomore Basketball teams opened the home portions of their 2009-2010 schedules with victories over Pinckneyville Monday night in Anders Memorial Gymnasium.
Thursday, the DHS teams host Herrin. On Wednesday, they'll visit Trico while Pinckneyville is home to face Hamilton County.
In the frosh game, Du Quoin (5-0) posted a 51-47 victory as Austin Mansker led all scorers with 15 points.
Deija Cole (13) and Brenden Fred (12) weren't far behind.
Dylan Hardin and Tyler Harmon each had 10 for Pinckneyville wth Daulton Hubler scoring nine.
The Du Quoin sophs (2-0) rallied from a four-point halftime deficit before pulling away, 60-48.
Sam Gossett pumped in 24 points with Levi Porter adding 12 and John Galik eight.
Justin Bumann (14), C.J. Opp (12) and Hunter Queen (nine) paced PCHS.
