11 a.m. BREAKING NEWS: Pinckneyville's game with Sparta postponed by weather, other games still on

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Approximately 1-inch of new snow fell over most of Southern Illinois overnight and was joined by wind chill factors reaching near 10 below zero at times. Most local schools were forced to close Friday. Local sports schedules, as expected, have been affected.

As of 11 a.m., here's the the updated list of announcements.

Pinckneyville boys basketball at Sparta Friday is POSTPONED, its been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 12. Currently, plans are to play Saturday's home game against Freeburg.

Trico boys basketball at home versus Carterville is POSTPONED.

No reschedule date's yet been determined.

Du Quoin home basketball with Nashville is ON AS SCHEDULED.

Jayvee starts at 6:30.

The Elverado girls basketball game vs. Marissa-Coulterville at the Chester Tournament Friday night IS ON AS SCHEDULED and will start at 6 o'clock.

Elverado boys basketball at Sesser-Valier Friday is ON AS SCHEDULED. The jayvees start at 6:15.

The Midwest Indoor Dirt Track Series event Saturday and the Friday night practice session inside the Southern Illinois Center are both POSTPONED. Reschedule date
