Du Quoin Gets New Bandstand

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Du Quoin Park Board member Charles Smith Tuesday night presented to the Du Quoin City Council his board's plan for a new band stand in Keyes City Park. Mr. Smith told members of the council the anticipated cost is $65,000 and that all of the money will be raised through park board fundraising efforts. The bandstand will be located along East Park Street near the restrooms. It will face into the park. Terraced steps on all sides will climb up to a covered bandstand with a decorative brick wall on the south end. Community groups constructed the existing-and now deteriorating--band stand in the park over 60 years ago.
