Sergeant First Class (retired), Stanley A. Meiners
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Sergeant First Class (retired), Stanley A. Meiners, 64, of Du Bois, passed away at 2:40 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at his residence.
Stanley retired in 1984 as a Sergeant First Class from the US Army with over 20 years of service to his country. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam war. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and was a Mason.
He was born Jan. 17, 1945 at Caledonia, Minn., the son of Henry and Elsie (Fliehe) Meiners.
He married Edna Maynard on Dec. 17, 1966 at Boles Acres, NM and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Bois, son- Leon Meiners of Du Bois, extended family, several nieces and nephews, brother- Marlyn Meiners of Caledonia, Minn., sister-in-law- Patsy Donaghue of Du Quoin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Lester Meiners.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.
Burial with military honors was at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Mound City National Cemetery.
Military honors were accorded by the Anna VFW Post 3455.
Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
