Patrick Howard Asa

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Patrick Howard Asa, 40, of Makanda, passed away at 4:35 a.m.., Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

Patrick had worked as a general laborer in construction. He was a member of Sunfield Baptist Church in Sunfield. He lived a hard life, but had good intentions. He never left a room without a friend. Patrick would always help anybody and would give them the shirt off of his back.

He was born June 30, 1969 at Carbondale, Ill., the son of Billie D. and LaDonna Jean (Midyett) Asa.

He married Apryl L. Wilks on May 4, 2007 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Makanda, three children - Patrick Howard Asa II, William James Asa, and Cole Howard Asa-Long, all of Carbondale, six siblings - Kelly Van Howe of Chicago, William Asa of Alton, Patty Jane Messer of Naperville, Sandra Harris of Naperville, Michael D. Asa of Carbondale, and Beth Williams of Du Quoin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Susan Boswell.

Memorial service was at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating.

Friends called from 5 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
