Numerous ordinances passed at city council meeting

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[At their recent meeting the Chester City Council passed an ordinance abating the tax hereto levied for the year 2009 to pay the principal of and interest on $2,890,000 General Obligation Bonds (Waterworks and Sewerage System Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2002, of the City of Chester, Randolph County, Illinois

The council then went on to approve an ordinance abating the tax hereto levied for the year 2009 to pay the principal of and interest on $6,695.00 General Obligation Bonds (Waterworks and Sewerage System Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2005A, of the City of Chester, Randolph County, Illinois.

An ordinance abating real estate tax levied for 2009 payable in 2010 on the Manor at Craig Farms was approved.

The council approved an ordinance authorizing contract for sale of real estate to the City of Chester at corner of Route 3 and Route 150.

In other council news:

The council determined that a vacancy exists in the Chester Police Department and that a replacement for a full time patrolman is needed, and request Board of Fire & Police Commissioners to appoint a full time police officer.

The maintenance plan for Chester Skateland with Korando Heating & Cooling retroactive to January 1, 2010 was approved.

Bethany Weber, Jennifer Hornbostel and Teri Crum were approved as Open Meetings Act Designees.

In the discussion regarding street projects, Alderman Blechle stated that he had been contacted by several residents about the parking issue on Swanwick Street. He suggested that the Council consider limiting parking on Swanwick Street to one side only due to the narrow areas which affect traffic flow. Residents are encouraged to call the mayor's office to comment on the possible change.

The council discussed alternate funding for Bodes Lane waterline project.

Finally, the council reviewed minutes of previous Executive Sessions and determine which, that none of them should be made available to the public. The council also reviewed verbatim records of closed sessions and decided none of them should be destroyed.

The next city council meeting will be held Monday,?February 1 at 7:00 p.m. at city hall.
