Marion I. Harrison

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Marion I. Harrison, 82, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:27 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at the St. Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.

Marion retired as an Area Manager for Illinois Power Company after over 40 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin. He had been a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Director at the Christian Church in Du Quoin for several years. He was a member of the Du Quoin Rotary, Du Quoin Elks Lodge, Du Quoin American Legion and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II.

He was born March 20, 1927 at Granite City, Ill. the son of Ivan F. and Vera Helen (Cook) Harrison.

He first married Betty Lou Hilyard on June 19, 1951 at East St. Louis, Ill. and she passed away Aug. 26, 1994. He then married Georgia Gallop Swallows on June 13, 1995 at Crystal Beach, Fla. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two daughters- Connie Harrison and Patricia Schaper, both of Pinckneyville, three step children- Todd Swallows of Texas, Scott Swallows of Iowa and Sally Miller of Milwaukee, Wis., grandchildren- Christina Schaper, John Schaper, Joshua Swallows, Rebecca Hoss, Luke Miller and Jenna Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, son- Richard Harrison, two brothers and a sister.

Memorial services were at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Du Quoin with Rev. Michael Ebersohl officiating.

Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin at a later date.

Friends may make memorials to the Marshall Browning Hospital Tree of Life and will be accepted at the funeral home.
