William K. Walker

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[William K. "Bill" Walker, 76, of Du Quoin, passed away at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at his home.

Bill retired as a welding engineer for Caterpillar Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Holts Prairie Baptist Church at Pinckneyville. He was a US Marine veteran of the Korean War.

He was born Oct. 27, 1933 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of William S. and Eva (Kennedy) Walker.

Bill married Rosalind L. Fowler on Dec. 23, 1954 at Jonesboro, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; daughter- Mary Lou Lambrich and husband Ivan of Tremont, Ill.; son- William Ted Walker and wife Sandy of Du Quoin; two brothers- Russell Walker and Jerry Walker, both of California; two sisters- Mary Jane Summers of Herrin and Betty Schmidgall of Pinckneyville; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter- Susan Scarber; son- John Stanley Walker; sister- Ruthie McCauly.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at the Holts Prairie Baptist Church at Pinckneyville with Rev. Collin Hirsch officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church and from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Burial was in the Holts Prairie Cemetery at Pinckneyville.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Du Quoin American Legion and Du Quoin VFW.

Memorials may be made to the family or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois.
