Chester chamber hosts luncheon

Please join us for lunch and an interesting and informational fun filled hour. the presententers will talk about chester's past businesses on the levee, the history of chester's waterfront and share a lot of wonderful stories and memories of chester

Do you remember the time when there were five grocery stores, four taverns, a railway station, St. James Hotel, and many other businesses "under the hill"? You will hear about them as well as a lot of former Chester businesses.

Featured speakers are Jack Asbury and Jack Bivens. Both grew up in Chester and now reside in Sparta. They have a lot of interesting and colorful stories of businesses and people who lived along the levee or "under the hill". Both grew up in the days of the Great Depression and the best times of their lives were growing up "on the levee". According to Jack Asbury, it was "a magical time". Asbury and Bivens are members of Chester's River Rats. This year will be the 29th annual River Rat Reunion.

Reservations are not necessary. The meeting is for any chamber member or interested individuals. Lunch will be on your own and may be ordered from the menu.
