Ruth L. Smith
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Ruth L. Smith, age 91 of Cutler, Ill., passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at 5:55 p.m. in Fair Acres Nursing Home, Du Quoin, Ill.
Ruth was born on Nov. 26, 1918 in Conant, Ill., a daughter to Theodore N. and Lillian (Wagner) Schaudt. On Oct. 18, 1947, she married Dale A. Smith in Conant, Ill. at the Trinity Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 2006. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, Ill. and also a member of the Homemakers Extension Association. She actively canvassed for the American Cancer Society and worked in St. Louis for Curtis-Wright Aircraft during WW II. Ruth was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by three children, Joyce (Paul) Pyatt of Pinckneyville, Ill., Thomas (Mardy) Smith and Mark (Kimberly) Smith of Campbell Hill, Ill.; five grandchildren, Nathan (Kristi) Pyatt, Tami (Kevin) Fagerland, Ryan (Jaime) Smith, Ethan (Amber) Smith and Brittany Smith; seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, Lois (Oren) Smith, Anita Schaudt and Pat (Harold) Lieurance; and two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Smith and Betty Ezekiel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson, Tyler Smith.
Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conant, Ill. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Randall Moritz officiating. Interment was in Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends called at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
