Virginia F. Koerner

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Virginia F. Koerner, 91, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:25 p.m., Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Fairview Nursing Center in Du Quoin.

Virginia was a homemaker. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin.

She was born June 15, 1918 at Sato, Ill., the daughter of Phillip and Luaria (McCoy) Rath.

She married James W. Koerner on Oct. 5, 1940 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1992.

She is survived by two sons - Barry J. Koerner and David J. Koerner, both of Mt. Zion, Ill., three grandchildren - Kelly Jo Koerner of Decatur, Ill., Timothy C. Mahan of Decatur, Ill., and Phillip G. Mahan of Peoria, Ill., one sister - Ruth Mitchell of Venice, Fla., and one brother - Charles W. Rath of Vincennes, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Fr. James VanOss officiating.

Friends called from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
