Chester Council approves contribution to Randolph?County Progress Committee

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Chester City Council approved the city's contribution to the Randolph County Progress Committee in the amount of $9,750 a year at their meeting Monday night.

The council also adopted a resolution regarding Local Government Distributive Fund.

A donation to Chester Sports Inc. was approved in the amount of $6,000.

Water heaters at Cole Park and Cohen Complex were approved per the park board's recommendation to make repairs and/or to bring the concession stands up to code.

The council tabled to act on a seasonal worker for ball diamonds.

AmerenIP/All Purpose Erectors recommendation to upgrade service from 600 amp to 800 amp panel to accommodate future expansion at Cohen Complex was approved.

An ordinance granting a special use request, a massage therapy room at the residence of Alyssa Roth at 1325 Oak St., was approved.

The council authorized publication of the city zoning map in The Randolph?County Herald Tribune.

In other council news:

A service agreement with Human Service Center was approved.

The engineering agreement with J. T. Blankinship, Inc. for OSLAD project was approved.

The transfer of funds, $100,000, from the gas fund to the general fund was approved.

The council approved utility accounts for write-off.

Jeff Beers spoke to the council regarding his Eagle Scout project. Beers intends to line the streets, from Gilsters to the courthouse, with flags during patriotic holidays.

Ashley Andrews also spoke to the council regarding a project for Girl?Scouts. Her project will consist of a recycling project at Cohen Complex and Cole Park.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be held Monday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. at city hall.
