crisis drill
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A new State of Illinois requirement mandates that schools conduct a crisis drill in cooperation with local police to prepare for the possibility of a major crisis. Monday, March 8 Chester High School conducted such a drill with Chester Police in attendance to observe, monitor and evaluate. CHS Principal, Keith Kittell, called a Code Red drill and all students and staff responded according to protocol. Chester Chief of Police, Ryan Coffey and Officer Bobby Helmers observed and met with Kittell following the drill. Coffey and Helmers noted a few minor constructive criticisms/suggestions and Kittell relayed those to teachers and staff later in the day. Just last week CHS conducted a fire drill in conjunction with the Chester Fire Department and another fire drill will take place sometime in April. Shown here Kittell, Helmers and Coffey take a brief rest outside a CHS classroom while inspecting the school during the crisis drill.
