Boys Prep Basketball: Gossett is first team IBCA All-Stater

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Four Perry County boys basketball standouts-three from Du Quoin High School-earned Class 1A/2A all-state recognition by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) last week.

Indian senior Matt Gossett was picked for the prestigious 15-player IBCA All-State first team. Scoring nearly 1,100 career points, Gossett led the sectional finalist Indians with 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game.

Gossett was the lone area player to make first team.

On the special mention list , Pinckneyville's leading scorer Drew Dudek was selected.

Named honorable mention were two more local seniors, Logan Schneider and Jamor Reed of Du Quoin.

Picked second team were Sesser-Valier's Justin Matyi and Drea' Shean Payne of Murphysboro .with Dawson Verhines (Woodlawn) and Cain Sheldon from Harrisburg third teamers.

Skyler Witges (Waltonville) and Casey Hammond from Woodlawn made the fourth team.

Also earning honorable mention laurels were Jesse Smith of Trico and Zeigler-Royalton's Tyler Mitchell.
