</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Junior Trent Bigham struck out 14 of the 25 batters he faced Friday afternoon as Du Quoin High School's baseball team started 2010 in resounding fashion.

The Indians shackled Sciota West Prairie 9-1 on a sunny and crisp afternoon at the Ballpark at DHS.

Du Quoin, 1-0, led just 1-0 in the fifth before breaking through to seal the win. A bases loaded triple by JC Davis was the big blow with Keegan Robbins later adding a key RBI double.

Bigham walked three and allowed the lone Cyclone run on a fourth inning balk.

Saturday, the Indians lost the first game of a double-dip with Herrin, 8-6. In a game two thriller, the Tribe forced extra frames when Jake Stanhouse blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Two innings later, DHS won the game when Davis scored on Brandon George's RBI infield single.

Robbins (1-0) went the distance for his first varsity mound win.

Du Quoin plays at Goreville Monday.
