</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Charles E. Lindwedel, 77, of Sparta, IL, died March 20, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Chester, in Chester, IL.
The son of Edwin and Catherine (Niemeyer) Lindwedel, he was born August 12, 1932 in Blair, IL.
On September 3, 1954, he married Mary Alice Caudle in Chester, IL.
Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife of Sparta, IL; two children-Kenneth Lindwedel of Ava, IL and Catherine Chote of Tamaroa, IL; two granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Anna Lindwedel; and one sister, Marie Lindwedel.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Walsh, IL with Rev. Harold H. Weber officiating. Burial was the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Walsh.
Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
