Fred David Mueller

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Fred David Mueller, 75, of Dowell, passed away at 11:20 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his residence.

Fred had worked as a repairman for Old Ben 26 Coal Mine. He had worked out of Laborers Union Local. He had also owned a service station in Du Quoin. Fred had also been a driver for Chip Banks Chevrolet-Buick in Du Quoin. He was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church and had been Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was also a Deacon for three years and was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Du Quoin Masonic Lodge, UMW of A, and he was an Elk Township 3 Precinct Democratic Committeeman.

He was born April 3, 1934 at Marissa, Ill., the son of Frank and Ernestine (Scholebo) Mueller.

He married Simnet Louise Moreland on Dec. 4, 1970 at Pinckneyville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2004. He then married Dorothy L.(McGhee) Gossage on Jan. 14, 2006 at Dowell, Ill. and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Dowell, five children - Rosemary Stratman and husband Jim of Vienna, Mo., Carl Mueller of Kansas City, Mo., James Mueller of Makanda, Ill., Roy Mueller and wife Sally of Dowell, and Jason Mueller and wife Tamiko of Murphysboro, four step children - Charles Gossage and wife Polly of Carbondale, Dorothea Reed and husband Terry of South Pekin, Ill., Jonathan Gossage and wife Terri of Pekin, Ill., and Barbara Robinson and husband Kent of Mason, Ill., two brothers - Elmer Mueller and wife Theresa of Tennessee, and Jim Mueller and wife Norma of Lake Station, Ind., four sisters - Barbara Wood of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Carol Swihart of Colorado, Ruth Michaels of Florida, and Debbie Swihart of Florida, 10 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son - Frank Mueller, two brothers - Larry Mueller and Jack Mueller and one sister - Doloris Sharpin.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Dowell Baptist Church in Dowell with Rev. Gary Pate and Rev. Kent Robinson officiating.

Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.

Masonic Services were at 7:00 p.m., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial was in the Mueller Hill Cemetery at Pinckneyville.
